Counties Manukau Cycling is excited to welcome you back to the Super City Teams Championship after a fantastic 2024 season! Get ready for an exhilarating experience of team racing and cycling camaraderie.


The Super City Teams Championship is a dynamic series of team-based cycling races taking place in South Auckland from August to November 2025. 

This series caters to cyclists of all levels:

  • Categories 1 to 4: Team Races with Leaders Jerseys and KOM Jerseys up for grabs.
  • Category 5 and Social Riders: Can ride their own race as individuals.   

 

Teams can field up to 6 riders per race and nominate a pool of up to 8 riders for the series, giving you the flexibility to rotate your line-up as needed.

    Rider Entry

    $50 per team rider per race, paid when your team and riders are confirmed for participation in that race.  
    $60 per individual rider per race.

    Important: Entry fees must be paid no later than the Thursday prior to race week to confirm team and rider registrations

  • Event Categories

    Race categories are organised by ability, reflecting general club racing grades. For example, if you typically compete in B Grade club races, you must register for Category 2 or higher. Riders are not allowed to enter a category lower than their usual club racing grade or ability. We reserve the right to reassign riders or teams to a higher category if deemed necessary. 


    Category 5 and Social Riders can ride their own race as individuals.

    Shop and School sub-categories are available, with trophies awarded to the top-performing Shop and School.
    Jerseys will be awarded across all grades.

    Please note: There is no separate women’s category or race this year. Women will compete in the category appropriate to their ability.

     

  • Race Points & Jerseys

    Medals are awarded at each round for each grade:

    • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers across the line, including separate category for women. 

     

    Overall series medals are awarded to:

    • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place individual finishers, plus women.
    • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team riders.

     

    Trophies are presented to:

    • The winning team for each round (round-specific trophy)
    • The overall series winning team for each category (grand trophy).
       

    Points are allocated for each race within each category.

    • The team whose riders accumulate the highest points will be declared the winner of their category.  
    • Points earned during each round will accumulate throughout the series, determining the overall championship winners.

    Teams Points

    Teams earn points as follows:

    • Points are awarded to the first three riders across the line for each team.
    • Individual riders score points based on their finish position: 1 point for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd, and so on.
    • The team with the lowest total points in each round wins 1st place team points for that race.

     

    KOM Points (applicable to all grades except Cat 5 and Social)

    • KOM points are awarded to the first three riders across the KOM timing mat: 
      • 3 points for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd, and 1 point for 3rd.
    • Each round features a single KOM, located on the first lap of the circuit unless otherwise specified.

    The rider accumulating the most KOM points across the series will win the KOM competition.

    Q: Do I need a license to race?
    A: No, just bring yourself and your bike—you’re all set!


    Q: Do I need race experience?
    A: Not at all! We welcome new riders and encourage participation. Grades are available to suit different abilities.


    Q: Do I need to be in a team?
    A: No, you can register as an individual or as part of a team.  We can also assign you to a team—it's entirely up to you. However please note we encourage all riders to join a Team wit major prizes being awarded to Teams.

     

    Q: Can I ride the TTT as an individual / TT ?
    A: No the TTT is for Teams only with the Team time being based on the 3rd rider across the line.


    Q: Can I wear my club jersey as my team jersey?
    A: Yes! Club, Shop, or School kits are all acceptable as team jerseys.

    As always, to ensure smooth operations for these events, it's important to keep everyone in the loop about what the teams and riders need and the organisers expect. Please read the Terms and Conditions below to get a clear picture of what's expected, so there are no surprises.

    Terms & Conditions for the “Super City Teams Championship” 2025

    1. Introduction

      1. A five round teams-based series with races for:
        • All races/events are run under the generally code of conduct and rules & regulations of Counties Manukau Cycling https://www.cmcycling.co.nz/about/code-of-conduct / https://www.cmcycling.co.nz/about/rules-and-regulations
        • Cat 1, Cat 2, Cat 3, Cat 4 are open to riders 15 and over.
        • Grades are based on Counties Manukau Cycling club racing.
        • Individual entries have the option of being allocated into a composite team per race.
        • Individual entrants must not race and/or participate with any team.
        • A separate (non teams) race will be run at each event for Cat 5 & Social Grade riders
        • An additional overall series winner Shop Trophy will be awarded to the team accumulating the most points that is representing a Cycle Shop
        • An additional overall series winner School Trophy will be awarded to the team accumulating the most points that is representing a School.
      2. A maximum of 10 Teams per Category
      3. The Overall ‘Series’ and Team classification winners will be those riders and teams who accumulate the most points over the course of the competition.
      4. In the event of two or more riders/teams equal on points, the leader or winner of the respective competition shall be the rider/team with the highest placed finish in the last round.
      5. The organiser reserves the right to cancel a race should a minimum of 50 riders not be registered at the entry cut off.
      6. The organisers reserve the right to change a Team or Individual from it’s current grade to another if necessary.
    2. Leader Jerseys

      1. Leading and KOM Jerseys will be worn by the Individual series leaders.
      2. Leaders Jerseys provided by the Race Organisers, shall be worn at all times during competition, and presentations.
    3. Attire –Team Racing Kit.

      1. Team uniform must be registered with Event organisers when you register your Team.
      2. All team members shall wear their distinctive team apparel while racing and during the prize presentations (unless they are wearing a Leader Jersey). Failure to do so may result in the loss of points in either or both the individual and team classifications.
      3. Failure to wear correct attire will result in the rider being refused a start, unless by prior
        arrangement with the Event organisers. All grades are not required to have Team bibs.
    4. Entry Fees

      1. Team Registrations and Entries shall be made online via the series website and close on
        30th June 2025.
      2. Team Registration is set at $600 per team but $500 for teams registered before 30th May 2025.
      3. All teams must have their riders registered by 30th June 2025.
      4. Team Entry per round is $60 per rider (minimum of 3 riders must be entered)
      5. Team Managers must enter their team and individual riders before Thursday 11pm the week prior to the event (10 days). This must be done on the series website.
      6. Late entries for each round – Any entries received after Thursday will incur a $10 late fee per rider.
      7. All entry fees are non-refundable.
      8. All entry fees must be paid at the time of entering.
      9. Lost timing transponders will be invoiced at $40.
    5. Prize-Giving

      1. Any rider presenting for prize-giving will wear their respective racing apparel. Their Team
        Jersey and Shorts. Failure to do so will result in the loss of points in the overall individual
        classification.
      2. Failure to attend prize-giving will result in forfeiture of points for the individual and/or his
        or her team unless by prior arrangement with the Event Organiser.
    6. Race Support / Lead Car Requirements

      1. Service – There will be a roster allocating 1 team to provide neutral service for each grade/race.
      2. Vehicles will only service riders from the left side of the vehicle and the left side of the road
      3. Lead Cars - Teams will be required to perform Lead Car duties, one Team from each category will be rostered on each week to be the lead car.
      4. No other support vehicles will be permitted to follow in the convoy or overtake the peloton.
    7. General

      1. The rider understands that competing in the event involves cycling on public roads used by other people and traffic and is aware of the hazards involved. The hazards include but are not limited to: condition of competitor’s equipment, road surfaces, vehicle traffic, actions of competitors, spectators, organiser’s personnel, weather conditions, hypothermia and heat exhaustion. In the rider’s judgment he/she has sufficient competence and experience to participate safely.
      2. The rider will follow the course set out and always abide by the ROAD RULES.
      3. The rider will wear their designated race number without modification and details on reverse of number must be completed.
      4. The rider, team management, or supporters will follow the rules and instructions given to him/her by race officials. Failure to do so may lead to him/her being eliminated from the event or may result in the loss of points in the individual and or team classification.
      5. The rider acknowledges that the organiser reserves the right to alter the advertised course or start time if conditions warrant. The organisers may make variations on the series conditions for specific races for safety and other reasons as may be required to hold the event.
      6. The rider consents to receive any medical treatment that may be deemed necessary in the event of injury, accident, or illness during the event, and allows the sharing of medical information to be passed to race organizers to ensure rider safety is paramount.
      7. The rider authorises the use of his/her name, voice and picture and any information provided by him/her on the entry form to be used without payment in any broadcast, telecast, promotion or advertising, and he/she also agrees that the information he/she has provided may be used by the organiser for the purpose of promoting future or other events, for the promotion of race sponsors products and services.
      8. The Race Organisers, Race Officials, Race Sponsors (major and subsidiary) shall not be liable for any damage, injury, illness, loss of property or accident caused to (or by) any person or object. Competitors and officials by starting and attending the Super City\
      9. Teams Championship Cycling Series, do so at their own risk and imply their acceptance of this condition and absolve the race organisation of liability.
      10. Should the rider not use the correct transponder or ride without the designated transponder then they may not be allocated a time or result for that race.
    8. Event Cancellation

      1. In the rare event that the event is cancelled beyond the organisers control no refunds will be issued. All measures will be taken by the event organisers to re-schedule the event to a suitable time.
    9. Additional Event Rules

      1. Rubbish. Riders caught dropping rubbish on the road at any time will incur penalties. Fine $50 and a 2 point penalty for the Team, that rider will be regulated to last in the race.
      2. Dangerous Riding. This includes riding on the wrong side of the road or any other behaviour that is considered dangerous and that will bring the sport into disrepute.Individuals will be disqualified, and their Team relegated to Last Place for that round.
      3. Motor Pacing. Motor pacing will not be permitted under any circumstances. Any rider caught will be disqualified and their Team Relegated to last place.
      4. Timing. Please note that the time given to all riders will be the actual time in which they cross the finish line. A bunch will not be given all the same time, as each second ticks over that will be the rider’s time.
      5. Team Registration On Event Day. Please make sure you are registered by the required time.
      6. Riders who DNF. The rider or Team manager must advise the officials at the FINISH line if a rider has not finished.
      7. Commissionaires. The race commissionaires’ rulings shall be final.
